When is an Officer an officer? – Hero or war criminal

Taking a break from my Melbourne holidays, I started looking into a bazidiary email request from a persistent Romanian boxer ‘fan’. From the Wiki about this guy as well as googled news reports on him, I wasn’t too sure if this guy was a hero or war criminal. Anyway, my friend referred to him as ‘his hero’ and recently I was forwarded another case study where the ‘direct officer’ element was in question. The more I dug about this person by the name of Željko Ražnatović (or Arkan as he was known), the more I knew how important the direct officer was in determining the ‘righteousness character’ of this individual.

Here’s his chart. Again, without the birth time, a lot is concealed but the prominent element that I am looking at quite pronounced as his main structure.

For Gui water person, his direct officer element is Wu Earth (Yang Earth). Can you imagine big rocks trying to contain or control myst or rain clouds. Quite difficult isn’t it. Right away, you can see that there’s a problem here if the element isn’t a favorable one. It is important to note because different daymasters have got different ‘affinity’ to different elements, even though their 10 gods relationships are the same. (e.g. A Ding fire is rarely defiant even though the direct officer element is not a favor, as water puts out fire or a Geng metal daymaster REQUIRES the control and discipline of the direct officer ding fire to be able to be ‘useful’ but useful here does not mean ‘cannot be defiant’ as we can see in Mike Tyson’s case). Back to Arkan.

From Wikipedia, you will note that Arkan didn’t have a good child hood and had grown up in a ‘militaristic’ household with frequent beatings from his father. He was also frequently in jail and was involve in quite criminal activities in the 70’s and 80’s (may not necessary be perceive as bad luck) but definitely demonstrate a negative direct officer relationship. (You’ll see that fire (and wood) is NOT Arkan’s favorite element. For the first three 10 years luck pillar, it is all season of fire!

His luck changes when he enters his 35 luck pillar, as metal is a resource to his weak gui water. You’ll note that he begins to build his network of relationships during those periods and gain military strengths and prowess. Infact, Arkan became a popular icon to many Serbs and their enemies!

Arkan was assassinated on 15 January 2000 at 5pm by a police junior brigade member who had ties to the underworld. It was a Ji Mao year, earth wood, both negative elements for Arkan and a Ren You (water monkey) day. The monkey combines/destruct with the snake in Arkan’s day pillar. The fire in the snake and metal in the monkey indicates ‘gun shot’ and the combination creates water (thoughts and ideas). Ren Water (the day itself) is also the ‘robwealth’ element to a Gui daymasters indicating Arkan was probably assassinated by people who knew him or used him probably because he knew too much (water indicating wisdom).

It’s also a reminder that that even though you may be in big 10 year ‘luck’ periods there are dark moments you have to watch out for.

Money, money, money...

I was treated to Mamma Mia, the musical a few days ago, and it features Abba songs, one of which is “Money, money, money…. It was the premier night, a charity event, and the who’s who of society was there. I’m a big musical fan and I must say, this was one of the best productions I have seen. But I just don’t fit in with the crowd, no matter how I try.
This morning, my brother emailed me the birth date of Bernard Madoff, the American Jewish businessman that was arrested recently because had created a loss of about US$50Billion in cash and securities though his ponzi investment scheme. Maybe I should look at his Bazi and see what I can dig out of it.

Just a few days ago, one of my business development consultants came to me, and offered me a ‘deal of a lifetime.’ Whatever money you put in, your capital is ‘guaranteed’ and the investment pays you 3% to 5% per MONTH! Hah…I told him, it’s because of all this money creating schemes that ultimately created this global financial meltdown. Too much virtual money! The one thing I learn, if it’s too good to be true, keep your money far far away!

Anyway, back to Bernard’s chart. The first thing after plotting it that caught my attention was he was born on the same day as one of Malaysia’s prominent businessman politician that is seldom in the news today. Here’s the chart.
Xin metal person – showy, attractive, and with the Bing fire of the sun just next to him, definitely a person that can sell you anything! The Bing Fire also represents the Direct Officer in the study of the 10 Gods. By looking at this Direct Officer, you’ll see that It is sitting on the stem and not been rooted (meaning it doesn’t appear in the branches) you should already be a little wary about his appearance of ‘righteousness.’

In the branches, a full season of wood is present – Tiger, Dragon Rabbit. Wood to a metal person is wealth. Money, money, money! (I don’t know his hour pillar or it we could tell so much more about this person!) Since 1999 till 2008 is was in his Gui Hai 10 luck pillar representing Water luck. Water is the resource to wood, the wealth has plenty of suckers out there feeding his wealth element. Furthermore, there is a ‘Hai Mao Wei’ implied in the chart (during his 61 luck pillar), here’s comes the virtual money I was talking about earlier. The Wei or Goat is implied and the prominent element in the Goat is the Ji Earth, which represents the Indirect Resource – Innovative thinking. This innovative thoughts is ‘hidden’ but obviously important in his wealth generating scheme that he is propagating.

The Bing Xin combo in the stem also creates more resource to feed his wealth element. Wah, this guy is good. Lots of hidden innovative ideas but has appearance of sound investment scheme (from the Direct Resource) and that is grounded (reflecting his sound knowledge of the financial market place). From Wikipedia, he was also the former chairman of Nasdaq!
So what ultimately happen? If you understand how a ‘pyramid scheme works’ ultimately the folks at the bottom of the pyramid ‘pays’ for it. The only sure thing about a ponzi scheme, is there is a bust point. From a bazi perspective, it’s difficult to keep the wealth you generate (wood) using yourself (pen knife) to cut it. He should have left it to his peers ‘robwealth’ (Yang Metal) to do the work for him, probably would have faired a lot better.

Take a look at this news report on him.

Thailand new PM – How long will he last?

I’ve been struggling to find a case worthy of discussion or at least provide me the interest to dig a little deeper into the case. While travelling to work this morning, my wife commented on the good looks of the new Thai PM. The first thing that came into my mind was how long would he stay in power? And with the political situation in Thailand, how did he come into power.
Googling though different news reports on ‘Mark’ Vejj as he is known, you will read about his ‘connections’ to powerful people that brought him to power. Not a good start. Next was to plot his bazi chart.

Found his birth date on wiki and proceeded to plot his chart. The first thing that pop out was his day pillar of Jia Shen. Flipping though some notes that I have scribbled while in bazi class, I came across the first thing that I wrote down. “Cut wood…not good in politics.” Ahem, we are talking about the new Prime Minister of Thailand.

Flipping through my database of people I know, the 2 people whom I know very well that have Jia Shen as their day pillars are the most difficult characters to deal with. Mind you, they are quite successful in what they do, but I can tell you straight in the face that I personally would not work with them as they are quite ‘unstable’ up there. But this can’t be true of the new Thai PM. Let’s look at their chart a little closer. Obviously, because I do not have the time of birth, there’s quite a bit of things that will cannot be revealed.

At the branch of the daymaster is the Geng Metal element that represents his 7Killings. On the stem of the month pillar, you’ll see the ever so important Xin metal representing his power or direct officer, which is quite apparent, as it is sitting in the stem. This itself doesn’t abode well with the character of this person. Outwardly righteous, but quite aggressive and cunning on the inside.

Another way to read the month pillar is the people who are close to him and use him (represented by the RobWealth element in the branch) have money (represented by Direct Wealth) and Power (represented by Direct Officer). These people constantly forge his metal (through the ding fire element) so that he can ‘chop wood’ which essentially is what needs to be done to this type of wood person. I can buy this angle, as there are adequate reports from different news sources to support this hypothesis.

On the year pillar, you see his supporters, who also bring money and resource, which is critical to his success.

He was elected as PM on December 15, a Ji Chou day. Essentially, wet earth. Next year is a Ji Chou year. Earth is wealth to a wood person. I can see he’ll be seeing ‘money’ next year. I suspect that would be the primary motivation of his supporters, too! 2008 is a Wu Zi year, earth water, quite a good year for him, especially more in a rat month (december). I guess to a weak wood person, water and earth is important. Water feeds wood, and earth ‘grows’ wood.

Reading his story on Wiki, you’ll see that there were many attempts to get him to power. He boycotted the 2006 elections, which Taksin had won but was later ousted by the army. He lost in 2007. And only when the ruling party was dissolve possibly through political influence, he came into power. He must some powerful people behind him!

2006 was a Bing Xu year. The Dog and Dragon clashed. Dog and Goat forms a punishment structure. Cannot possibly be good for him. 2007 was Ding Hai (fire water) year. Fire is important as it forges metal, but water in the base doesn’t help support fire. Furthermore, his power is represented by the Xin metal and not Geng Metal. Xin metal does like to be forged. Not good either. 2008 is earth rat year. The rat, monkey and dragon forms a water combo and that probably gave his enough water power to become PM.

If you ask me personally, it’s too difficult to sustain this type of luck through the coming years. Then again, you just never know. Maybe he’ll become another Taksin, as he would make a shrewed businessman and a country like Thailand may require that to propel it forward.

Ratty December

My bazi colleagues friends were discussing about if we could build this super software that and run it on a super computer to be able to predict world catastrophes. In fact looking at the chinese solar calendar, we picked up this particular bazi formation on December 14.

Take a look. The red circles indicate a Fu Yin formation, or 'sad events.'

A few of us had predicted flooding, river banks bursting, dam breaking etc. All water related disasters.

It rained cats and dogs last night so was wondering if any parts of the world is facing the types of rain that we are getting, so I did a Google Search. Wow...these were some of the news flash in the last few hours.

Rome braces for floods as rains swell the Tiber

Rome A state of emergency was declared yesterday with more than a thousand residents being moved out the city as a precaution as the Tiber came close to bursting its banks after two weeks of torrential downpours and violent thunderstorms.

One man was killed when a bridge collapsed on him as he helped a driver with his flooded car, and a woman died after her car became trapped in a flooded underpass. Bridges across the Tiber were closed and guarded by police. The Colosseum was surrounded by water, and the rising river threatened to submerge the church and hospital on Tiber Island.

Officials said that the waters of the Tiber were their highest for 40 years. Gianni Alemanno, the Mayor of Rome, urged residents to “stay at home” as the civil protection department predicted a further 36 hours of heavy rain.

The Rome fire brigade said that it had rescued dozens of people trapped in cars in flooded streets and underpasses. Sandbags were distributed to those living on ground floors in affected areas of the city. Mr Alemanno said that the emergency was equivalent to Rome being “hit by an earthquake.”

In Venice alarms sounded as high tide surged in, flooding St. Mark’s Square, while Alpine rescuers saved a group of ten Boy Scouts stranded in a record snowfall on Mount Etna.

Flash flooding hits UK homes

Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory.

Flash floods hit the south west

Torrential rain caused flash flooding and traffic chaos across parts of the south of England, Wales and Scotland.

At least seven people had to be rescued from their cars in Devon after they got trapped by the rising flood waters.

Up to 46cm of rain fell in some areas of Somerset and Devon, where emergency services described conditions on the roads as "atrocious".

At one point, more than 200 flood warnings were issued for the south west of England and Wales.

They included one severe warning for the River Lyd in Lydney in Gloucestershire but there are also flood warnings across other parts of the UK.

The Devon and Somerset Fire Service said it had received hundreds of calls about the flooding in the south west and urged people not to travel unless it's really necessary.

Meanwhile, loads of sheep at a farm in Scotland have been rescued after getting stranded on a hilltop by rising flood waters.

About 100 sheep got trapped in a field in Perth when the nearby River Earn burst its banks.

The local fire service said the high water levels were caused by snow melting on the hills and swelling the river.

Heavy rains trigger flooding in Guyana

Associated Press
2008-12-14 03:09 AM

Guyana's prime minister says heavy rains have inundated several coastal towns and farms.

Samuel Hinds says government workers are monitoring floodgates and helping to drain waters from seaside towns. He says a few low-lying coastal villages are under more than a foot (0.30 meters) of water, but there have been no injuries.

Guyana's meteorologists on Saturday warned inhabitants of this South American country to brace for more flooding amid December's rainy season.

Most of Guyana's 270-mile (430-kilometer) coastline is located nearly 6 feet (1.8 meters) below the Atlantic and flash floods are a constant threat during storms. Coastal towns, including the capital, are protected by canals and storage trenches that are drained during low tide.

BREAKING NEWS: Flooding possible throughout the day

Jamie Jones
Dalton Daily Citizen

Murray and Whitfield counties are under a flood warning until 2:15 p.m. today, meaning floods are occurring or on the way, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS also placed the two counties under a flood watch until 7 p.m. today, which means conditions are favorable for flooding, especially along larger streams and rivers.

An operator with Murray County 911 said there was flooding throughout the county, but said there had been no major problems or serious accidents reported as of 10 a.m. The operator said there were no closed roads, adding the “torrential rain” caused several areas to have standing water.

“There have just been fender benders and people running off the road because of the rain,” he said.

Jeffrey Putnam, Whitfield County Emergency Services director, said this morning only one road in the county — River Road — was closed. He said “there was nothing to” a reported rock slide near the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center. There was only one rock about 18 inches in diameter in the road, he said.

Putnam urged residents to be cautious while driving, while the NWS warned of more flooding tonight.

“Some creeks and rivers across north Georgia are already near flood stage,” according to the NWS. “The additional rainfall late tonight could push the creeks and rivers above flood stage.”

An area of showers and thunderstorms across central Georgia this morning will shift north through the day. North Georgia received between two and three inches of rain Wednesday and this morning. An extra one to three inches of rain is expected throughout the day.

Tonight, the rain, combined with temperatures near freezing, could bring some snow, according to the NWS. Little or no accumulation is expected. The rain is expected to clear out Friday, bringing sunny skies and highs in the mid 40s.

Flood situation in Johor worsens

Meanwhile, a total of 83 victims have been placed at two centres in Batu Pahat. The situation in Kluang, however, has improved with all the evacuees returning home.

So far no death nor accident caused by floods has been reported.

Bernama reports that the situation in flood-hit districts in Terengganu, except for Kuala Terengganu, has returned to normal. There are still 91 evacuees staying at three relief centres in Kuala Terengganu.

Floods have left people in low-lying parts of Venice, including the popular tourist site of St. Mark's Square, wading through knee-deep water.

The entire city - founded on a collection of marshy islands in the 5th century and crisscrossed by canals - suffers from periodic flooding caused by high tides. The government has begun a multi-billion euro floodgate project aimed at stopping rising sea levels from destroying the city.

Landslide Tragedy - the Wood, Water and Earth connection

The Star headline this morning read – Buried Alive. Another landslide tragedy! I wonder when would people learn, or do something, even more so when something similar had happened before.

I had the opportunity to read my bazi classmate’s blog, bazichic.com about interpreting ‘Years of Turbulence.’ Maybe we can look at the time and date of these catastrophes and try looking close at it from a Bazi perspective. I've never really done this before, but maybe there's a few golden lessons from looking at these catastrophes.

I plotted out two charts – one of the Highland Towers tragedy that happened on 11 December 1993 at 1:30pm and the recent landslide tragedy at the same location on 6 December 2008 at 3:30am.

Take a look at the charts on the day of those tragedies. The first was of the most recent landslide tragedy.

The obvious resemblance is both charts are extremely wet – indicating the key culprit – RAIN. In the landslide tragedy, YANG EARTH is also very prominent. Just look at how the earth is arranged, almost as if this took place is a mountainous area where suddenly earth was brought down to ‘earth’ (from the day pillar branch). Looking closer at the branches where ‘Yang Earth’ is present, you see the other elements of water, wood and fire. This could mean it was an emotional (water) day of compassion (wood) where earth had put out the (fire) of life. 4 lives were lost that day.

Another way to see this would be trees (wood) were chopped (by metal) for property (earth) development and money (wood is wealth for metal). Obviously when there’s no wood to hold earth, and when rain(water) is plentiful, landslides happen.

Note: Personally, I've been thinking about 2009 year of wet earth. I'm a water person, and earth contaminate water, thus wood is important. I have wood in my chat, so that helps. Wood is my output, also denotes creativity. So, I guess, creative output (like my blog here) is critical from keeping my emotions from getting muddied! (if there was such a word)

What about the Highland towers tragedy where 48 lives were lost when one of the towers collapsed? The first thing that came to my mind when looking at the chart was the towers were represented by the tall Jia wood (using the same pictorial method as the first landslide case), and you will see the fallen Jia wood on the earth branch in the day pillar. Incidentally, there were 3 towers, and 1 tower actually collapsed. In the hour stem, it is also Wood! (probably indicating the other tower) The fire of the Sun is right on top the fallen wood, again probably indicating lost of lives (as people turn to God, fire of the Sun is also associated to religion etc.)

Why did it happened. Obviously water had a lot to do with it. But you could also see it as overall (usually in the year pillar) development in the area (Xin metal in the year branch) cutting Yi wood in the hour branch (could be represented as ‘clearing small trees’ for earth (property development) ultimately lead to loss of lives. (fire depends on wood as a resource, but when metal chop wood and expose earth that weakens fire, fire is put out).

I've been browsing the bookstore aisles where all the predictions for 2009 is beginning to appear. The one message that is very clear. 2009 is a good (and important year) for wood people as it represents wealth. I do hope my wood people don't take this opportunity to leave me in times of need. They seem to be getting new job offers. :-(

George Carlin - Philosopher Comedian

A friend had send me a piece of work by George Carlin, a famous American stand up comedian who had just recently passed away from heart failure. I like to share his piece of work which is ever so inspiring.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side..

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent..

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

~George Carlin
