When is an Officer an officer? – Hero or war criminal

Taking a break from my Melbourne holidays, I started looking into a bazidiary email request from a persistent Romanian boxer ‘fan’. From the Wiki about this guy as well as googled news reports on him, I wasn’t too sure if this guy was a hero or war criminal. Anyway, my friend referred to him as ‘his hero’ and recently I was forwarded another case study where the ‘direct officer’ element was in question. The more I dug about this person by the name of Željko Ražnatović (or Arkan as he was known), the more I knew how important the direct officer was in determining the ‘righteousness character’ of this individual.

Here’s his chart. Again, without the birth time, a lot is concealed but the prominent element that I am looking at quite pronounced as his main structure.

For Gui water person, his direct officer element is Wu Earth (Yang Earth). Can you imagine big rocks trying to contain or control myst or rain clouds. Quite difficult isn’t it. Right away, you can see that there’s a problem here if the element isn’t a favorable one. It is important to note because different daymasters have got different ‘affinity’ to different elements, even though their 10 gods relationships are the same. (e.g. A Ding fire is rarely defiant even though the direct officer element is not a favor, as water puts out fire or a Geng metal daymaster REQUIRES the control and discipline of the direct officer ding fire to be able to be ‘useful’ but useful here does not mean ‘cannot be defiant’ as we can see in Mike Tyson’s case). Back to Arkan.

From Wikipedia, you will note that Arkan didn’t have a good child hood and had grown up in a ‘militaristic’ household with frequent beatings from his father. He was also frequently in jail and was involve in quite criminal activities in the 70’s and 80’s (may not necessary be perceive as bad luck) but definitely demonstrate a negative direct officer relationship. (You’ll see that fire (and wood) is NOT Arkan’s favorite element. For the first three 10 years luck pillar, it is all season of fire!

His luck changes when he enters his 35 luck pillar, as metal is a resource to his weak gui water. You’ll note that he begins to build his network of relationships during those periods and gain military strengths and prowess. Infact, Arkan became a popular icon to many Serbs and their enemies!

Arkan was assassinated on 15 January 2000 at 5pm by a police junior brigade member who had ties to the underworld. It was a Ji Mao year, earth wood, both negative elements for Arkan and a Ren You (water monkey) day. The monkey combines/destruct with the snake in Arkan’s day pillar. The fire in the snake and metal in the monkey indicates ‘gun shot’ and the combination creates water (thoughts and ideas). Ren Water (the day itself) is also the ‘robwealth’ element to a Gui daymasters indicating Arkan was probably assassinated by people who knew him or used him probably because he knew too much (water indicating wisdom).

It’s also a reminder that that even though you may be in big 10 year ‘luck’ periods there are dark moments you have to watch out for.

Money, money, money...

I was treated to Mamma Mia, the musical a few days ago, and it features Abba songs, one of which is “Money, money, money…. It was the premier night, a charity event, and the who’s who of society was there. I’m a big musical fan and I must say, this was one of the best productions I have seen. But I just don’t fit in with the crowd, no matter how I try.
This morning, my brother emailed me the birth date of Bernard Madoff, the American Jewish businessman that was arrested recently because had created a loss of about US$50Billion in cash and securities though his ponzi investment scheme. Maybe I should look at his Bazi and see what I can dig out of it.

Just a few days ago, one of my business development consultants came to me, and offered me a ‘deal of a lifetime.’ Whatever money you put in, your capital is ‘guaranteed’ and the investment pays you 3% to 5% per MONTH! Hah…I told him, it’s because of all this money creating schemes that ultimately created this global financial meltdown. Too much virtual money! The one thing I learn, if it’s too good to be true, keep your money far far away!

Anyway, back to Bernard’s chart. The first thing after plotting it that caught my attention was he was born on the same day as one of Malaysia’s prominent businessman politician that is seldom in the news today. Here’s the chart.
Xin metal person – showy, attractive, and with the Bing fire of the sun just next to him, definitely a person that can sell you anything! The Bing Fire also represents the Direct Officer in the study of the 10 Gods. By looking at this Direct Officer, you’ll see that It is sitting on the stem and not been rooted (meaning it doesn’t appear in the branches) you should already be a little wary about his appearance of ‘righteousness.’

In the branches, a full season of wood is present – Tiger, Dragon Rabbit. Wood to a metal person is wealth. Money, money, money! (I don’t know his hour pillar or it we could tell so much more about this person!) Since 1999 till 2008 is was in his Gui Hai 10 luck pillar representing Water luck. Water is the resource to wood, the wealth has plenty of suckers out there feeding his wealth element. Furthermore, there is a ‘Hai Mao Wei’ implied in the chart (during his 61 luck pillar), here’s comes the virtual money I was talking about earlier. The Wei or Goat is implied and the prominent element in the Goat is the Ji Earth, which represents the Indirect Resource – Innovative thinking. This innovative thoughts is ‘hidden’ but obviously important in his wealth generating scheme that he is propagating.

The Bing Xin combo in the stem also creates more resource to feed his wealth element. Wah, this guy is good. Lots of hidden innovative ideas but has appearance of sound investment scheme (from the Direct Resource) and that is grounded (reflecting his sound knowledge of the financial market place). From Wikipedia, he was also the former chairman of Nasdaq!
So what ultimately happen? If you understand how a ‘pyramid scheme works’ ultimately the folks at the bottom of the pyramid ‘pays’ for it. The only sure thing about a ponzi scheme, is there is a bust point. From a bazi perspective, it’s difficult to keep the wealth you generate (wood) using yourself (pen knife) to cut it. He should have left it to his peers ‘robwealth’ (Yang Metal) to do the work for him, probably would have faired a lot better.

Take a look at this news report on him.

Thailand new PM – How long will he last?

I’ve been struggling to find a case worthy of discussion or at least provide me the interest to dig a little deeper into the case. While travelling to work this morning, my wife commented on the good looks of the new Thai PM. The first thing that came into my mind was how long would he stay in power? And with the political situation in Thailand, how did he come into power.
Googling though different news reports on ‘Mark’ Vejj as he is known, you will read about his ‘connections’ to powerful people that brought him to power. Not a good start. Next was to plot his bazi chart.

Found his birth date on wiki and proceeded to plot his chart. The first thing that pop out was his day pillar of Jia Shen. Flipping though some notes that I have scribbled while in bazi class, I came across the first thing that I wrote down. “Cut wood…not good in politics.” Ahem, we are talking about the new Prime Minister of Thailand.

Flipping through my database of people I know, the 2 people whom I know very well that have Jia Shen as their day pillars are the most difficult characters to deal with. Mind you, they are quite successful in what they do, but I can tell you straight in the face that I personally would not work with them as they are quite ‘unstable’ up there. But this can’t be true of the new Thai PM. Let’s look at their chart a little closer. Obviously, because I do not have the time of birth, there’s quite a bit of things that will cannot be revealed.

At the branch of the daymaster is the Geng Metal element that represents his 7Killings. On the stem of the month pillar, you’ll see the ever so important Xin metal representing his power or direct officer, which is quite apparent, as it is sitting in the stem. This itself doesn’t abode well with the character of this person. Outwardly righteous, but quite aggressive and cunning on the inside.

Another way to read the month pillar is the people who are close to him and use him (represented by the RobWealth element in the branch) have money (represented by Direct Wealth) and Power (represented by Direct Officer). These people constantly forge his metal (through the ding fire element) so that he can ‘chop wood’ which essentially is what needs to be done to this type of wood person. I can buy this angle, as there are adequate reports from different news sources to support this hypothesis.

On the year pillar, you see his supporters, who also bring money and resource, which is critical to his success.

He was elected as PM on December 15, a Ji Chou day. Essentially, wet earth. Next year is a Ji Chou year. Earth is wealth to a wood person. I can see he’ll be seeing ‘money’ next year. I suspect that would be the primary motivation of his supporters, too! 2008 is a Wu Zi year, earth water, quite a good year for him, especially more in a rat month (december). I guess to a weak wood person, water and earth is important. Water feeds wood, and earth ‘grows’ wood.

Reading his story on Wiki, you’ll see that there were many attempts to get him to power. He boycotted the 2006 elections, which Taksin had won but was later ousted by the army. He lost in 2007. And only when the ruling party was dissolve possibly through political influence, he came into power. He must some powerful people behind him!

2006 was a Bing Xu year. The Dog and Dragon clashed. Dog and Goat forms a punishment structure. Cannot possibly be good for him. 2007 was Ding Hai (fire water) year. Fire is important as it forges metal, but water in the base doesn’t help support fire. Furthermore, his power is represented by the Xin metal and not Geng Metal. Xin metal does like to be forged. Not good either. 2008 is earth rat year. The rat, monkey and dragon forms a water combo and that probably gave his enough water power to become PM.

If you ask me personally, it’s too difficult to sustain this type of luck through the coming years. Then again, you just never know. Maybe he’ll become another Taksin, as he would make a shrewed businessman and a country like Thailand may require that to propel it forward.

Ratty December

My bazi colleagues friends were discussing about if we could build this super software that and run it on a super computer to be able to predict world catastrophes. In fact looking at the chinese solar calendar, we picked up this particular bazi formation on December 14.

Take a look. The red circles indicate a Fu Yin formation, or 'sad events.'

A few of us had predicted flooding, river banks bursting, dam breaking etc. All water related disasters.

It rained cats and dogs last night so was wondering if any parts of the world is facing the types of rain that we are getting, so I did a Google Search. Wow...these were some of the news flash in the last few hours.

Rome braces for floods as rains swell the Tiber

Rome A state of emergency was declared yesterday with more than a thousand residents being moved out the city as a precaution as the Tiber came close to bursting its banks after two weeks of torrential downpours and violent thunderstorms.

One man was killed when a bridge collapsed on him as he helped a driver with his flooded car, and a woman died after her car became trapped in a flooded underpass. Bridges across the Tiber were closed and guarded by police. The Colosseum was surrounded by water, and the rising river threatened to submerge the church and hospital on Tiber Island.

Officials said that the waters of the Tiber were their highest for 40 years. Gianni Alemanno, the Mayor of Rome, urged residents to “stay at home” as the civil protection department predicted a further 36 hours of heavy rain.

The Rome fire brigade said that it had rescued dozens of people trapped in cars in flooded streets and underpasses. Sandbags were distributed to those living on ground floors in affected areas of the city. Mr Alemanno said that the emergency was equivalent to Rome being “hit by an earthquake.”

In Venice alarms sounded as high tide surged in, flooding St. Mark’s Square, while Alpine rescuers saved a group of ten Boy Scouts stranded in a record snowfall on Mount Etna.

Flash flooding hits UK homes

Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory.

Flash floods hit the south west

Torrential rain caused flash flooding and traffic chaos across parts of the south of England, Wales and Scotland.

At least seven people had to be rescued from their cars in Devon after they got trapped by the rising flood waters.

Up to 46cm of rain fell in some areas of Somerset and Devon, where emergency services described conditions on the roads as "atrocious".

At one point, more than 200 flood warnings were issued for the south west of England and Wales.

They included one severe warning for the River Lyd in Lydney in Gloucestershire but there are also flood warnings across other parts of the UK.

The Devon and Somerset Fire Service said it had received hundreds of calls about the flooding in the south west and urged people not to travel unless it's really necessary.

Meanwhile, loads of sheep at a farm in Scotland have been rescued after getting stranded on a hilltop by rising flood waters.

About 100 sheep got trapped in a field in Perth when the nearby River Earn burst its banks.

The local fire service said the high water levels were caused by snow melting on the hills and swelling the river.

Heavy rains trigger flooding in Guyana

Associated Press
2008-12-14 03:09 AM

Guyana's prime minister says heavy rains have inundated several coastal towns and farms.

Samuel Hinds says government workers are monitoring floodgates and helping to drain waters from seaside towns. He says a few low-lying coastal villages are under more than a foot (0.30 meters) of water, but there have been no injuries.

Guyana's meteorologists on Saturday warned inhabitants of this South American country to brace for more flooding amid December's rainy season.

Most of Guyana's 270-mile (430-kilometer) coastline is located nearly 6 feet (1.8 meters) below the Atlantic and flash floods are a constant threat during storms. Coastal towns, including the capital, are protected by canals and storage trenches that are drained during low tide.

BREAKING NEWS: Flooding possible throughout the day

Jamie Jones
Dalton Daily Citizen

Murray and Whitfield counties are under a flood warning until 2:15 p.m. today, meaning floods are occurring or on the way, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS also placed the two counties under a flood watch until 7 p.m. today, which means conditions are favorable for flooding, especially along larger streams and rivers.

An operator with Murray County 911 said there was flooding throughout the county, but said there had been no major problems or serious accidents reported as of 10 a.m. The operator said there were no closed roads, adding the “torrential rain” caused several areas to have standing water.

“There have just been fender benders and people running off the road because of the rain,” he said.

Jeffrey Putnam, Whitfield County Emergency Services director, said this morning only one road in the county — River Road — was closed. He said “there was nothing to” a reported rock slide near the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center. There was only one rock about 18 inches in diameter in the road, he said.

Putnam urged residents to be cautious while driving, while the NWS warned of more flooding tonight.

“Some creeks and rivers across north Georgia are already near flood stage,” according to the NWS. “The additional rainfall late tonight could push the creeks and rivers above flood stage.”

An area of showers and thunderstorms across central Georgia this morning will shift north through the day. North Georgia received between two and three inches of rain Wednesday and this morning. An extra one to three inches of rain is expected throughout the day.

Tonight, the rain, combined with temperatures near freezing, could bring some snow, according to the NWS. Little or no accumulation is expected. The rain is expected to clear out Friday, bringing sunny skies and highs in the mid 40s.

Flood situation in Johor worsens

JOHOR BARU: The flood situation in Johor has worsened, with the number of victims increasing from 352 on Tuesday to 632 yesterday. Muar showed the most drastic increase with 549 evacuees who are being housed in three relief centres.

Meanwhile, a total of 83 victims have been placed at two centres in Batu Pahat. The situation in Kluang, however, has improved with all the evacuees returning home.

So far no death nor accident caused by floods has been reported.

Bernama reports that the situation in flood-hit districts in Terengganu, except for Kuala Terengganu, has returned to normal. There are still 91 evacuees staying at three relief centres in Kuala Terengganu.

Floods have left people in low-lying parts of Venice, including the popular tourist site of St. Mark's Square, wading through knee-deep water.

The entire city - founded on a collection of marshy islands in the 5th century and crisscrossed by canals - suffers from periodic flooding caused by high tides. The government has begun a multi-billion euro floodgate project aimed at stopping rising sea levels from destroying the city.

Landslide Tragedy - the Wood, Water and Earth connection

The Star headline this morning read – Buried Alive. Another landslide tragedy! I wonder when would people learn, or do something, even more so when something similar had happened before.

I had the opportunity to read my bazi classmate’s blog, about interpreting ‘Years of Turbulence.’ Maybe we can look at the time and date of these catastrophes and try looking close at it from a Bazi perspective. I've never really done this before, but maybe there's a few golden lessons from looking at these catastrophes.

I plotted out two charts – one of the Highland Towers tragedy that happened on 11 December 1993 at 1:30pm and the recent landslide tragedy at the same location on 6 December 2008 at 3:30am.

Take a look at the charts on the day of those tragedies. The first was of the most recent landslide tragedy.

The obvious resemblance is both charts are extremely wet – indicating the key culprit – RAIN. In the landslide tragedy, YANG EARTH is also very prominent. Just look at how the earth is arranged, almost as if this took place is a mountainous area where suddenly earth was brought down to ‘earth’ (from the day pillar branch). Looking closer at the branches where ‘Yang Earth’ is present, you see the other elements of water, wood and fire. This could mean it was an emotional (water) day of compassion (wood) where earth had put out the (fire) of life. 4 lives were lost that day.

Another way to see this would be trees (wood) were chopped (by metal) for property (earth) development and money (wood is wealth for metal). Obviously when there’s no wood to hold earth, and when rain(water) is plentiful, landslides happen.

Note: Personally, I've been thinking about 2009 year of wet earth. I'm a water person, and earth contaminate water, thus wood is important. I have wood in my chat, so that helps. Wood is my output, also denotes creativity. So, I guess, creative output (like my blog here) is critical from keeping my emotions from getting muddied! (if there was such a word)

What about the Highland towers tragedy where 48 lives were lost when one of the towers collapsed? The first thing that came to my mind when looking at the chart was the towers were represented by the tall Jia wood (using the same pictorial method as the first landslide case), and you will see the fallen Jia wood on the earth branch in the day pillar. Incidentally, there were 3 towers, and 1 tower actually collapsed. In the hour stem, it is also Wood! (probably indicating the other tower) The fire of the Sun is right on top the fallen wood, again probably indicating lost of lives (as people turn to God, fire of the Sun is also associated to religion etc.)

Why did it happened. Obviously water had a lot to do with it. But you could also see it as overall (usually in the year pillar) development in the area (Xin metal in the year branch) cutting Yi wood in the hour branch (could be represented as ‘clearing small trees’ for earth (property development) ultimately lead to loss of lives. (fire depends on wood as a resource, but when metal chop wood and expose earth that weakens fire, fire is put out).

I've been browsing the bookstore aisles where all the predictions for 2009 is beginning to appear. The one message that is very clear. 2009 is a good (and important year) for wood people as it represents wealth. I do hope my wood people don't take this opportunity to leave me in times of need. They seem to be getting new job offers. :-(

George Carlin - Philosopher Comedian

A friend had send me a piece of work by George Carlin, a famous American stand up comedian who had just recently passed away from heart failure. I like to share his piece of work which is ever so inspiring.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side..

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent..

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

~George Carlin

Thaksin the Political Master

There seem to be so many politicians in trouble today. I had written earlier about Chen, Taiwan’s Ex President. Even I have a few cases that I was requested to review, I like quickly highlight another millionaire politician, Thaksin Shinawatra.

I’ve visited Bangkok a fair bit in the last few years. I have even once literally dined in the same restaurant as Mr. Thaksin and his wife one Sunday evening. There was no entourage, probably a few body guards, but I didn’t see any, and folks in the restaurant didn’t rush over to greet him (as you would normally expect in Malaysia), in fact, no one did. He did smile to people who were stealing glances at the couple.

Recently, the exiled ex prime minister had announced that he had divorced his wife in Hong Kong on November 15, 2008. Many had speculated that it was because he had parked a fortune with her and it was done because he had an outstanding warrant of arrest and there was talk of extradition of Thaksin back to Thailand for trial.

This is Thaksin’s chart. I do not know his birth time, but his wife, the Direct Wealth, is clearly indicated as the Geng Metal in the spouse palace. Thaksin is a strong ying fire, as he is a ding fire born in the GOAT month. Again, metal is one of Thaksin’s favorite elements as it weakens strong fire. Geng metal, to be made useful needs to be forged by Ding Metal.

These arrangement of elements and their position indicate great love and affinity for each other in the chart.

It almost seemed that the divorced was an ‘arranged’ or orchestrated divorce rather than a divorce because of irreconcilable differences. Even though November was a Pig month and the Pig clashed with the Snake (spouse palace), it was Gui Hai month of water and water is another favorite element for Thaksin!

The Wrath of the Dragon and Dog

It was a lazy but productive weekend. Productive in the sense that I had managed to get a few more articles on to my blog despite feeling like doing nothing all day long. The key to getting inspired I guess is to find a case that may spark my curiosity on the accuracy of Bazi intepretations. From Google Analytics, I see that readers are interested in famous people like Obama or Cho, the Virginia Tech shooter. I’m not too sure if local politicians get traffic to the blog, but I am certain there is a significant interest in INTERNATIONAL politicians.

My television is usually turned to some Chinese news channel most of the time as my dad in law is very interested in things happening in China and Taiwan. Been handicapped by the fact that I don’t understand Cantonese or speak Mandarin, I usually don’t pay very much attention. But over the last weeks, they have been talking about Taiwan’s ex president, Chen Shui-Bian and how he had channeled some state funds to his personal accounts. Usually the Chinese channels are very visually explanatory. Plenty of diagrams in paved with pictures of people explaining how funds were diverted here and there etc. Difficult not to get curious about what really happen!

Did a wiki search, found Chen’s birth date and plotted his bazi chart. I would imagine a person of his stature, position, and knowledge would have consulted someone on his life path, and yet every action he did and took, essentially brought more trouble to him during unlucky periods.

Chen is a strong Geng Metal person as he was born in season. He is an extremely smart young man who graduated with distinction and ultimately ended up with a law degree. This is implied by the fact that Indirect Resource element is pronounced in the branches of this month and day branches. Indirect Resource usually means the person is very innovative in his thoughts and ideas. Yet it is these very two pillars of Dragon and Dog that will bring about his problems in the future.

The Geng Metal person is sharp, determined and strong willed. He knows what he wants in life and goes after it, maybe a little too aggressively in his case. You see, fire is power to a metal person. But fire of the SUN is not the ideal fire for a Geng metal. He needs Ding Fire, that signifies power and authority (and forges his Geng Metal). The Bing Fire is the fire of aggression. The Tiger – Dog branches also implies the horse is present thus presenting the fire of authority in his chart. He does have a sub Qi ding fire in the month of his month pillar. This person will have power in life!

Chen became politically involved in the 80’s during his 28 luck pillar of Ji Chou (pure earth) Technically Ji Chou (OX) is not a good 10 years pillar to be in as it technically only strengthens Metal. Already strong metal like to be weakened not strengthened further! These were tough years for him. He was jailed in 1985 for an article he had published in his pro-opposition magazine. Not only did he lose the election, it was also in this OX year, that his wife was hit by a truck causing her to be paralyzed from waist down.

What happened? Ox forms a destruction formation with the Dragon. The wife is represented by the Direct Wealth element found in the Dragon branch, which so happen is the spouse palace too! The Dragon and Dog already forms clash relationship inside the natal chart. When the 10 year luck pillar of OX came about coupled by an OX year, disastrous events took place.

His luck changed for the better as he entered his 38 luck pillar. After been released from prison he served as the legislative assistant to his wife and started practicing law. By 1989 he was elected and served as the executive director to the Democratic progressive Party Congress which had the support of some key government people. The Geng Yin luck pillar represented support from friends and money. The rest was history. By 2000 Chen was elected President and served 2 four year terms.

If there was one thing that I remembered and cherished in Bazi class, no luck is forever good or bad, and even in very good luck or bad, there will be a spot of the reverse! This is represented by the Taijitu symbol!

In March 19, 2004 Chen escaped an assassination attempt. March 19 was a Ding You (Fire Rooster day). Interestingly, Rooster combines with Dragon creating Metal; Rabbit (10 Yr LP) combines with Dog creating Fire. Fire and Metal, symbolizing gun fire!

2008 was when Chen’s luck ran out again. Chen is now in his LP of Ren Chen (Water Dragon). When the dragon emerges (and clash with the Dog), trouble signs (corruption charges etc) begin to appear. In fact, by mid 2007, the public was calling for Chen’s resignation. By the time 2009, the year of the OX, I predict you’ll see the more disastrous events for the ex President and his wife.

Between the SUN and the MOUNTAIN

Recently there’s been a lot in the news about the 2 women politician who is going after the head honcho position in the key women political organisation. I got a little curious after reading their interviews and decided to a little bit of research and pen my thoughts down on my blog.

I have travelled with one on an official business delegation trip and have encountered the husband of the other in the airport lounge in Los Angeles. That is as far as my personal experience with and knowing about them. The interview opened up a whole other perspective.

Like the SUN that spreads its light to everyone, no one can hide from the warm she emits. The SUN is an extremely regimented person, tolerant in nature, and has plenty to give. But don’t mess with her, she’ll rise again tomorrow and the following day, over and over again. SUN people have very cheerful and have a ‘sunny’ disposition, and make excellent leaders as people look up to her. They are straight shooters and call a spade a spade and the description in both interviews aptly describes her so well (so does her Bazi!).

For this SUN, she sits on Jia Wood, her Indirect Resource element or growth star. Her role in life is to affect growth and if you have seen her in action when she was a minister, you will have deep respect for her knowledge and the things she was doing.

She has an Eating God structure. Her output is all about doing ‘big’ things, so true for Bing Fire people. Her Bing fire also sits next to a Yang water (REN), with represent aggressiveness in the study of the 10 Gods. If you can imagine the SUN been reflected on the ocean, this only make her shine even brighter.

As for the MOUNTAIN, imagine a rocky mountain one. Beautiful if born at night. But this mountain is also rocky and sharp. The mountain harbors lots of hidden secrets and they are survivors as they have been around for a long time. Earth people are extremely very hardy. They are not moving, but once they start rolling, they are unstoppable. Think of a big bolder and you know what I mean.

The problem with earth people is they are contemplators. They think too much and reflect before deciding on any action. Again, the newspaper interview describes this mountain so precisely!

So…who will win next year? Maybe I should ask the baziqueen to give her views and pointers. My simplistic view of the whole election thingy is all about support. Support and not power. These are 2 already powerful women with different type approaches to the way they operate.

Here are the 2 charts. Who do you think will be the next chief?

The Dashing Entrepreneur

I’ve known him for many years now. This guy has always been behind the scene. His projects are always to do with people and community. A straight shooting kinda fellow, I had a sense that he was beginning to get recognition for the efforts he has been putting in and when he decided to host GEW Malaysia, WITHOUT getting paid for the job, I thought he must have really lost it, or have something brilliant up his sleeve.

You see the GEW is organized and founded by the Kaufmann foundation in the US. But Kaufmann wanted to do it ‘entrepreneur’ style. If you took up the challenge to become your country’s hosts, you did it by raising your own funds through sponsorships. The way they gauged the success of the program in each country that hosted their own week was by the number of sponsors/partners and activities that took place. Guess what, Malaysia is #3, after the US and UK. Quite impressive, and it was so impressive that Kaufmann actually send some very high power senior reps to Malaysia for a couple of days during the launch.

Anyway, you can follow GEW Malaysia here. Ok, Back to the dashing entrepreneur. Here’s his chart.

This guy is a strong fire of the SUN person. Obviously very innovative and full of ideas and probably get his success from the relationships he cultivates. I derived the relationship part from the RobWealth element he is sitting on. This Bing Wu pillar is also my season and wealth pillar in my chart. The first thing that came into my mind is stick to this fellow, he’s going to help me weather the financial storm. In a matter of fact, we have already been doing some projects together, and there’s quite a fair bit of ‘kam cheng’ between him and me and both organizations.

He is born in tiger wood month no pun intended…(I don’t think he plays golf) which in the study of the 10 Gods depict innovative ideas. There’s also the Eating God and Friends as the sub Qi. So, this guy uses his innovative ideas and creative output to get his work done, usually through relationships that he has. Let me look at the relationships next.

On his left, there’s people with power and money that support him. The hour pillar has the Bing Fire in the branch indicating support or his friend. And in the stem of the same pillar you see the Direct Officer, indicating power.

On the right of him, there’s the EG (Eating God) in the stem, right next to him. A few ways to look this formation. EG for an entrepreneur can also represent his staff or people that work for him. He is close to them and they are the ones that carry out his innovative (Jia Wood in the branch) ideas. Over in the Year Pillar, you see more support from friends in the earth branch.

Money (Geng Metal) is also present in the chart. Indirect Wealth is the form of wealth that associated to entrepreneurs (or Malaysian Politicians).

I concluded that my dashing friend has a nice chart but is he destined for success in the future. I’ve refrained from usually trying to predict the future in my previous articles as I have yet to find some a similar person/chart that have at least the same destiny path.

Reflecting on the cases that I have gone through, I suddenly realize that I have seen this type of a chart before….look below.

Now, I’m beginning to get excited. I’ve done an analysis of Steve Jobs, so you can click here to see it. Since we were looking at ‘path’ I wanted to examine when Steve was at his pinnacle of his career. I’m an Apple fan. I started with the Macintosh and although I don’t have a Mac today (actually I did by a Mini Mac but found it not that useful because of the lack of software) I do carry an Iphone and have an Itouch and Ipod. In short, big fan lah! I assume the peak of Jobs career started when he launch the iPod in 2001. So, I started digging for more information to verify my hunch. During that 10 years (in his 46 luck pillar) he was also got a big stock options valued at US$20M from Apple, he sold Pixar (that he bought from George Lucas for US$10M) for US$7.4B, and iPod was officially the best selling digital audio device in the world at 150M sold! Wow. Steve’s pinnacle was indeed his Gui Water Rooster Metal 46 luck pillar.

Let’s go back to the dashing entrepreneur. Guess what, that is coming up. When this guy is 45, 2 years away, he would go through the same luck cycle! 2010 is also a Geng Yin year. How not to make money?

Global Entrepreneur Week Malaysia

It’s been quite some time since my last blog entry. Rest assured, I’ve not given up on this blog but I’ve been busy ensuring the coming pure earth years don’t put out my wealth pillars of fire! Another way saying ‘repositioning my company’ to weather the looming financial crisis!

Anyway…I was invited to speak last night on the topic of Feng Shui (Bazi) for Entrepreneurs for an event organized by GEW (Global Entrepreneur Week) Malaysia. It was at a night spot in Sri Hartamas and my ‘dashing’ entrepreneur friend was the host and organizer.

I was initially quite reluctant to speak as I still consider myself an apprentice still ways from a ‘master.’ But since this topic was quite close to my heart, I accepted the invitation. Obviously, my primary concern was I was definitely no Joey Yap or Lillian Too, I may bore the hell out of my audience! So I needed to make it interesting and my strategy was to ‘map’ some local entrepreneurs whom I have known very well to famous entrepreneur.

Ok, I had an interesting idea. What’s next? Everyone loves politics in Malaysia, and if you have been following this blog, I actually analyzed that many of our local politicians had similar structures to western businessmen charts! So I had to do a ‘political scene.’ With the current situation with bloggers in Malaysia, I decided to play it safe, and go with an anonymous settings – so no names!

It was important to tie everything together, as if I went directly into charts, almost no one without any experience or understanding in Chinese metaphysics is going to think I’m spinning all the way during my presentation. So I needed to at least give the audience some background and the barest possible basics. Believe me, holding the audience attention during this portion of the presentation, which lasted only 15 minutes was tough. A bunch on entrepreneurs, (yi wood on Hai water)(was looking at one start up VC’s chart and saw what he was nurturing) was a tough crowd to keep their attention. Even more so, I realize there were couple of tables with whisky bottles opened!

But when we came to the charts, I got their attention! J I will over the next few articles relate some of the analysis that I have done so stay tune.

The Grand old man of Malaysia

After looking at a few younger politicians, it only makes perfect sense to look at Malaysia’s father of Modernization. The grand old man of Malaysia as he is fondly known, is Malaysia’s 4th Prime Minister. He was responsible for many things, one of which brought me back to Malaysia – The Multimedia Super Corridor. So, I’m not too sure whether to love him or hate him, but I truly believe Malaysia has benefited from his leadership. I remember him as a man of vision and action. He carries this little book and whenever he writes anything into it, action will surely follow!

Like so many Malaysians celebrities I do not have their time of birth, but Dr. M actually mentions his REAL birth date (somewhere, I can’t remember) so I would used that rather than his official one.

Dr. M is a Yi wood person born in Summer. So technically he (Daymaster) is NOT Strong or Prosperous (this is to support my believe that great people does not necessarily have to be strong or prosperous). If you look at his wood, he is supported NOT by water, but by earth, representing his indirect wealth. You’ll also find the elements representing his friends or support in the known pillars of his chart. Essentially, you could interpret this as having support from his rich buddies. It was his policy to enhance the progress of the nation through wealth building. Dr. M policies had made a lot of people rich and they in turn helped developed Malaysia to what it is today.

Dr. M’s approach has never been conventional. This is indicated by the Indirect Resource (Gui Water) right next to him. Water (representing wisdom) is critical for earth (representing wealth) to grow wood (him). The next important element that is not in his natal chart is the Bing Fire, we know for soil to grow wood water and Sunlight is critical. But I feel that fire is only secondary to water, as he was born in the summer season and he already gets his much needed warmth from the 2 goats in his chart. Furthermore, fire weakens the wood, so fire is not one of his favorite elements.

In Dr. M’s case, you’ll see that his resource is not rooted (unsure, because it possibly could be rooted in the hour pillar). However, from reading his bio, we know that he had a sound education as he father was a headmaster and had been quick strict with all his children. (My reference actually came from a cartoon biography by E.Yu)

Looking at his bio on wikipedia, you’ll note that Dr. M was elected as a member of parliament in 1964. But the following years, was an uphill battle for the young Dr. M. He had lost the following general election in 1969, followed by May 13 race riots and was sacked by the UMNO Supreme Council. His book The Malays Dilemma was banned in 1970. 1965, 1966, and 1967 were all fire years, an element that is not favorable to Dr. M, hence the uphill challenges.

Things began to turn after 1971, year of the metal pig, which primary chi is water. Dr. M rejoined Umno 1972, and was appointed senator 1973. 1974 he won the general elections and become the Minister of Education. In 1975 he became of the 3 VPs in UMNO. The water and wood years had helped Dr. M strengthened his political position in Malaysia. Wood obviously strengthens the daymaster, while water is an important resource to wood.

In 1978 Dr. M became Deputy Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of Malaysia in July 1981. All the key events took place during his 50 Luck Pillar, in the season of water. 1981 was a year of metal, a resource to Water. Metal in the study of the 10 Gods also represented power and authority.

As far as health was concern, Dr. M had several heart related surgeries. In 1989 he had a coronary artery bypass. 1989 was a earth fire year. In November 2006 he was again admitted to hospital for suffering a mild heart attack. 2006 was a fire earth year.

So, by just a simple understanding the person’s favorite and non favorite element, one can already predict the luck the person goes through in a particular year!

The Business of Malaysian Politics

I visited one of my investors/shareholders yesterday to update him on deals, pipelines etc. As we were chatting, he mentioned to me about a 'talk' that he was suppose to give about entrepreneurship. He essentially will try to model the dynamics of technology business in the West (America) to the property sector in Malaysia. There seem to be a match as far as the dynamics of how the tech industry evolved in the US and how the property sector is growing in Malaysia. Interesting phenomena.

I then came to another realization. I've been reading quite a few charts of famous business people in the US like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs etc. as well as famous politicians in Malaysia. Was working on our 4th Prime Minister's chart yesterday when it suddenly dawned on me of very acute similarities between Entrepreneurs in West and Politicians in Malaysia! Most politicians in Malaysia would make excellent business people, based on their bazi charts!

Darn, should have not gone into Business. I wonder if I qualify to join MCA....

More Action Orientated Bazi

Since we are at the topic of ACTION orientated Bazi, let’s look at another case. This is a young upcoming prominent politician. We don’t have the date of birth so obviously I need to put a disclaimer on the accuracy of the analysis.

He is a Xin Metal person, born in OX month (the season of water). Here is where lots of confusion occurs, and I generally try not to take sides where is comes to whether a person is strong (because earth produce metal…yah yah yah…I can hear Joey saying, “earth CANNOT produce metal…”) and if it’s the season of water, how can metal be strong. So, my approach is ignore rather than argue first.

His Xin metal is however supported by another Xin metal, which to me indicates he cannot be that weak anyway! Another way to look at it, since it is at the SPOUSE palace, is that his spouse is extremely important to him (since we know that he is not born in season).

Xin metal people are extremely sharp and quick in thinking. They are socialites, have high self respect, and sometimes are vain people. Think of beautiful jewelry. They however can be quite stubborn in their personalities. Usually, they cannot take ‘stress’ or they will go out of shape.

He is an Indirect Resource structure person. He seeks comfort and knowledge through very innovative approaches. Expect him to be non conventional when it comes to his actions.

He has money. His wealth of indirect wealth is rooted and penetrates to the heavens. No problems where is comes to making money (the businessman way)(Indirect wealth represents money made through business, inheritance, relationships etc. Direct Wealth is through your own hard work…poor me, have to work hard for the money the rest of my life!)

So where’s the power? With the Rooster and Ox side by side, we can assume there a Snake that is implied. (Snake, Rooster and Ox forms metal) In the Snake there is Bing Fire. The Bing in the study of the 10 Gods represents the Direct Officer, or power and authority. Metal also represents support (to a metal person). This guy is ‘unseen-ly’ powerful!

So before straying too far away from the objective of this article, let me go back to the basis on what ACTIONS he should focus on.

Self is good, supported. Resource no problem, rooted and penetrate to the heavens. This guy is smart probably very eloquent and sharp witted. Money and power is there. The weak link in this example would be the Output (although it may be in the hour pillar).

His campaigns should be focused on OUTPUT that is related to WATER and FIRE (especially Bing fire (fire of the SUN). Why FIRE? Because it’ll make him shine even more! What is Water Output? Probably knowledge base activities like ICT, education etc.

Action Orientated Bazi – focus on the weak link

I had a request from another bazi classmate to help interpret his son’s chart. Looking for characteristics is easy enough, and difficult to do, when the child is only 1! But I think that’s the value of knowing and working the weak link.

I’ll post my friends boy later on, but like all my previous case, I like to focus on a famous personality. I won’t reveal the name, just yet, but it’ll be good way to make my case.

This person is a ding fire person, born in Hai (Pig), so naturally not strong as not born in season. His daymaster is however supported by resource (unfortunately not the right kind) and the Hai makes the resource not very useful as wet wood doesn’t burn well. I don’t have the time of birth so, let’s say there’s so much you can read from this chart only. He does present his output (EG) in the year stem, but it’s not supported and he has a direct officer structure.

From the description, you can say this person is quite sentimental, courteous, and conservative in characteristic. Extremely patient and contemplate his moves patiently. His self is not strong and is further aggravated by the fact his resource or support is not good. This would be his source of frustration in the future as his ideas do not come to full fruition. Another way to look at all this Indirect Resources is to understand the representation of Yi Wood as an IR. These could be advisors that use other people to get to their own personal goals! The ding fire is surrounded by them! The bazi structure tells us of a person of power, authority, righteousness etc.

Where’s the weak link? (not missing link, because it’s important that the element is still present for it to be effective). My assessment is in the eating god/hurting officer element. As we do know that there’s wealth associated to the person, probably though the children, I will assume that the wealth elements probably would be located in the hour pillar.

The flow of things moves these ways – Resource supports self. Self produces Output. Output generates Wealth. Wealth brings about Power and Authority.

This person will realize his power and authority in his 35 (starting 1974) and 65 (starting 2004) luck pillars. These are his OUTPUT luck pillars (lasting for 10 years each). Dry resource is important – which means dry wood (dead chopped (Geng metal should be present) wood), and water aggravate the situation further – such as the year of the Rat, where the base chi is Water. There would be plenty of stress in water years! But from ages of 35 through 64, he would go through the season of summer and it would be relatively smooth sailing for him. He will see his peak during his 65 luck pillars.

So, if he was my son, I would focus on a few key areas of development – resource (knowledge and foundation) and output (realizable outcomes).

Larry Page - the Eating God link to Wealth

I got up this morning feeling terribly lazy as I knew we had another long weekend again. Deepavali celebrations fell on Monday, but I couldn’t make a trip to Penang to see my parents as Joanne had something on this morning that would last the whole day. Checked my email, and had a nice ‘thank note’ from one of bazidiary’s reader. Suddenly, I felt inspired to write again!

After going through my emails, I started thinking about one of the candidates that I was going to hire to compliment my sales team. He had an OK chart. I wouldn’t say fabulous (then again he wouldn't be looking for a job, right), but more important, is WHAT I can do about it, or what action or job scope would he need to be in to maximize his potential.

The candidate Mr. K, had a strong water chart (which would compliment me, as I am weak), and needs fire (which I have plenty). SO as far as compatibility goes, we are a match. He has very clear rooted wood elements in his chart but his wealth element is weak (but not missing). So, I’m not too sure if his effort will translate into money, especially if he is to go into sales. This is my simple analysis.

Once again, I thought the best way to get an answer is to look at some famous personalities and study their bazi charts. Since I have been Googling for people, let’s look at the founder of Google himself - Larry Page. No birth time found, and actually very little information other than his years at Stanford (this chap is young), and of course starting up Google. But that’s ok. I just want to see the KEY to unlocking potential and see if it’s relevant to someone like Larry Page.

Larry’s a Xin metal person. Obviously, Xin people are attributed to been sharp and quick witted (smart people) and attractive (does not necessarily mean physically but also mentally). They are also very strong willed folks that can be stubborn at time. Not born in season, so not terribly strong but definitely supported by another Xin metal in the earth branch of the spouse palace.

I’ve concluded that it’s ok not to be born in season, but don’t be too weak, in perspective of the daymaster. I have seen quite a few famous and high achievers with this type of formation. (not strong but not weak, either)

Larry’s month pillar is all money, indirect wealth. So, he’s going to see money very easily (unlike my sales candidate….grump) and this money is not going to come the ‘conventional way’ which eventually make him a successful entrepreneur.

In his year pillar, we see a Gui water representing his ideas, work, output, sitting on a indirect resource, which generally tells us about translating his ‘out of the box and innovative’ thinking to a action items that would ultimately connect Larry to immense wealth he has today.

So….what’s his KEY element. I think it is the Gui Water and in the study of the 10 Gods, this represent his eating god element. This is his output element. If he manages to harness this, he is set for life. (BTW water also symbolizes wisdom, an obvious important element to him!)

Next, let’s look at some key events in his life. From the web, we know that Google was founded in 1998. But in reality, his base foundation for Google started earlier. In 1996, Larry actually ‘applied’ the first version of the Google engine to the Stanford website.

1996 was the year of Bing Zi (Fire Water rat). Water is prominent in 1996, which represents his output. Furthermore, Larry was in his 16 luck pillar of Gui Chou, which is his output star sitting on indirect resource (again representing his innovative ideas). This was a good year for realizing creative ideas, which ultimately led to the formation of Google in 1998. (which was a tiger year, representing wood, or wealth for larry!)

Daim Zainuddin - the Political Businessman

On the way to work this morning, the radio station were discussing about how to inculcate good reading habits in children. There was a parent that called up and mentioned to the listeners that he has a different type of problem. His children cannot stop reading, and they have to even put locks on their book shelves. I have personally encountered a few kids that are avid readers, but it’s that extreme habit that is of interest to me. There was even a parent that complained her kids are lazy and just want to read all day and do nothing.

In the study of 10 Gods, the resource element is usually associated with knowledge, comfort, satisfaction, laziness etc. My next objective is to look for a famous someone that has a ‘resource structure’ in the chart. As I have been looking at famous westerners, maybe I should shift my focus closer to home.

Again, like always, after Googling for famous Malaysian, I stumble across this name, which has been missing in the local political and business scene for a while now. I’ve heard from the grapevine that he has been acquiring banks in Africa over the last few years. He is non other than the former Finance Minister of Malaysia, Daim Zainuddin.

Reading his short bio on Wikipedia, the one thing that struck my attention was Daim’s partner obviously believed in Feng Shui, and decided at one time, that they needed to be in business that was related to the element of Water.

I do not have Daim’s birth time, but from his date of birth, Daim is a Xin Metal person born in the Dragon month. Many have asked this question of strength of the metal day master, when the person is not born in season but in one of the earth months (dragon, dog, goat, or ox). I remember Joey clearly telling us, earth CANNOT create metal! (although, technically in theory, earth produce metal). So rather than argue or dive to deep into technicalities, I’m just going to plain ignore it and look at the surrounding elements and their implications in Daim’s chart.

Daim’s day pillar is a Xin Mau. In the study of the 60 Jia Zi’s, we know that Xin Mau is very ‘pure’. Pure in this case means clear, define, and sometimes extreme. There are only one primary chi in Xin and Mau. They represent someone who probably will have no problem doing business or making money as the Yi wood represents indirect wealth to a xin metal person.

He is born in the month of Dragon, where it is a season of wood but the main chi is yang earth or Wu. Wood represents wealth and in the Dragon, you’ll find also the Yi wood or indirect wealth. Looking close at the year, month and day pillar (we don’t have the time of birth), you’ll see that 3 animals (Tiger, Dragon, and Rabbit)(though not in the right order) combine to form ‘Spring’ or Wood or again, wealth. This individual is no ordinary person.

He is however a Direct Resource person. And we also know that direct resource personalities seek comfort in life and could possibly be lazy. Looking at Daim’s bio in Wikipedia, there’s note about his childhood and how he was very much an ‘absentee student’ and how he had developed a ‘strategic studying method’ to advance to the next level with minimum effort. His parents had played a key role in providing the guidance and even sold land in order for him to further his education abroad. Looking closer at his parents pillar (month) you’ll see all this been represented. Mother is represented as the Wu earth, and father as the Yi wood, all in the parents pillar representing strong affinity to him.

Daim had also a voracious appetite for reading, which is a common attribute to resource people.

Daim graduated as a lawyer and was called to the Bar in 1959. Both the Bing Fire and his strong Direct Resource structure indicate that he will gravitate towards this profession as well as go into politics ultimately. In 1969 Daim decided he would go into business.

Daim’s big break came in 1971, when he ventured into property development. 1971 was Xin Hai year, which was predominant a water year. He was also in his 31 luck pillar of metal, representing relationships and network that could help strengthened himself in terms of ultimately controlling his wealth!

You’ll see subsequently, that Daim had encountered much success in water years through his lifetime, and that his partner assessment of water being an important element to him was accurate! You see, in Daim’s chart, wealth is already prominent, his self does not appear strong, but key mediating element is water. Metal (him) produce water (output) produce wood (wealth).

From a political perspective, you’ll see that Daim success is also attributed to periods associated to Water and Metal. Daim had become the Minister of Finance in 1984, Year of Jia-Zi (Wood and Water), both important elements to Daim. He was also in his 41 luck pillar of pure metal!

Mike Tyson – The Firery Fighter

I woke up this morning wondering how the chart of ‘people who wasted away their wealth’ would look like. I remembered Joey had mentioned in his M4 class that folks that had the wealth element (especially Indirect Wealth) ONLY in the stem and no wealth rooting had the possibility of squandering their wealth away during their life time. (Other than the fact that they had only LOOKED rich on the surface)

Doing a simple Google search returned a website link with the title “ 6 People Who Pissed away a Fortune.” At number six, was Mike Tyson. He would be an interesting character to analyze as there probably would be quick a fair bit written on Mike Tyson that I could base my analysis on.

Looking at his chart, you’ll see that it is quite a hot (temperature wise) chart. Two horse next to each other, one with a Bing sitting on top in the year pillar. For a Geng Metal person, the two horses make up a self punishment with the ding fire representing Direct Officer, and sitting Bing Wu in the study of the 10 Gods represent 7 Killings. What a childhood he would have had! Fire is obviously NOT one of his favorite elements as it only weakens metal and strengthened fire further! This person has an aggressive personality (7K) and probably got in trouble with the law often (Ding represented the law and is in a self punishment formation.) According to Wikipedia, by the time Mike Tyson was 13, he had been arrested 38 times!

Not only was he a wild kid, he didn’t have a good childhood. This is reflected by the fact his 1st luckpillar is Yi (wood) and Goat. Another fire (and resource of fire) Goat and Horse would combine creating more fire!

However, when you think about a Geng Metal person, fire becomes a very important element, as Geng needs ding fire to be forged, or it cannot be useful. Mike’s Geng metal, although not born in season, is not that all weak, as he is sitting on Shen (monkey). And there’s another Geng metal in Shen. This forge metal is useful to cut wood, his wealth element, which sits next to him in the form of a Jia Wood representing his Indirect Resource!

This clearly demonstrates the ability to make money very easily. But how did he squander away all the fortune that he had made?

Let’s look at the time Mike Tyson became famous. In 1984, he had turned professional. In 1985 he defeated his opponent with a first round knock outs. He subsequently won 26 out of 28 matches via knockouts, which eventually lead to him being the next heavy weight champion! Even though 1984 was the year of the rat (water) and 1985 was year of the ox (earth)(but season of water)(not his favorite element as it weakens water, Mike was in his 11th luck pillar, of metal, and that took precedent over the annual year elements.

In 1986, Tyson become the youngest heavy weight champion in history. 1986 was the year of tiger, where wood represented his Indirect wealth. By the early 20’s Tyson was clearly on the way to a lot of wealth! This wealth streak continued for several more years until about 1990, where his luck started running out. 1990 was the year of the horse – FIRE! 1990 was also his ‘Fan Yin’ year indicating an ‘external’ sad event.

Another thing to note is in 1988, Don King had emerged bought all future contract to Tyson’s matches. Don King could clearly be represented by the Ding You luck pillar that emerged when Tyson was 21. Ding in this case represented his ‘boss’ and YOU’s element of XIN represented RobWealth, people who interested in taking a piece of Tyson’s action.

In 1991, Tyson was arrested for the rape and convicted in November 1992. 1991 was a Goat year. Goat clashed with the horse, and Tyson got in trouble with the law again! History repeats itself. He was sentenced to jail for 6 years but was released in March 1995. He started to fight again and won a few earlier matches.

In November 1996, Tyson tried to defend his WBA title but lost to Evander Holyfield. 1996 was the year of the RAT, and water weakened metal, thus not his needed luck element. Tyson fought Evander in 1997, where he was disqualified for biting Evander’s ear! I wonder if he was ‘irrational’ at that point, as surprisingly, 1997 was the year that Tyson entered his 31st luck pillar of Wu Xu, which is pure Yang Earth representing Indirect Resource or unconventional thinking. 1997 was also the year of the OX (season of water) as well as the Ox formed a harm formation with the 2 horses, which again created the ‘breaking the law’ effect. I guess they don’t call Tyson the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ for nothing! This time, his luck pillar obviously not in luck.

Mike continued to fight until 2005 where he declared he will quit boxing because he no longer had the ‘fighting guts or the heart anymore.’ You would assume a man who amassed almost US$300M in ring earnings would not have filed for bankruptcy in 2003, but he did! He had squandered all away. 2003 was year of the goat or season of fire once again.

I am not certain by the fact that his Indirect Wealth element of Jia wood sits on the stem in the same pillar with the horse, but it almost seemed that every time his luck turns, his wealth flies out the window, too. I guess that is why it is so important to have your wealth rooted somewhere or no matter how much capacity you have to make money, it can go away very easily.

Unleashing your Potential

Occasionally I get invited to speak on the topic of Entrepreneurship or Knowledge Management. Last Saturday, I was invited to give a small motivational talk to UKM students during their National Career Day.

I do enjoy these talks as I get to understand what's going on in the younger generation minds as well as reminisce my college days! I truly did enjoy my time in the university as I got to do so many things without the responsibility of having to think of how to feed the 100 people I have in my organisation today!

I guess the reason why I was invited was the organisers was intrigue on how a Piano/Music person ended being a CEO of a software company. My answer to that is simple, no one wanted to hire me (except the music schools, but I didn't want do teach music), I had no choice...or did I. I was also a person that did things because I wanted to do it, rather than being influence by someone else.

While relating my life story, the one thing that struck me was certain skill sets were inherent in me. I did not study business, but I can sell ice to the Eskimos, write a killer proposal etc. I don't think you can train a person to be a businessman. He must already have it in him or he will surely fail, in some form or fashion. I wouldn't dare make this claim, a year before, until my studies into chinese metaphysics, especially bazi.

A lot of people choose careers for different reasons, but the number reason is the money factor. Others do it because their parents. I think, if they knew what their potential was, and started developing it early in life, they would be so successful. This is where I guess the 'cosmic trinity' comes into play. Destiny determines only 1/3 to your outcome in life, the other 1/3 is environmental factors of fengshui and the final 1/3 is effort.

Any aligned effort, if started early enough, would result in unleashing your potential!
